Aquarium Rocks & Stones for Sale
Aquarium rocks and stones are essential hardscape materials used to create structure, depth, and naturalistic aquascapes in freshwater and saltwater tanks. On Light Fish you'll find a variety of aquarium-safe rocks listed by hobbyists and sellers, including dragon stone (ohko), seiryu stone, lava rock, pagoda stone, petrified wood, and slate. Each type has distinct aesthetic qualities and variable effects on water chemistry — some are inert while others can raise pH and hardness.
Before adding any rock to an aquarium, rinse thoroughly and test for reactivity with white vinegar — if it fizzes, the rock contains calcium carbonate and will raise pH and hardness. This is desirable for African cichlid and rift lake setups but unsuitable for soft-water biotopes. Larger pieces should be placed on the tank bottom before adding substrate to prevent tipping and potential glass damage.
