Bichirs (family Polypteridae) are ancient, prehistoric-looking fish prized by aquarium hobbyists for their dinosaur-like appearance and fascinating behavior. On Light Fish you'll find a variety of bichir species and morphs listed by breeders and enthusiasts, including Senegal bichirs, rope fish, ornate bichirs, and albino variants. Bichirs are obligate air-breathers with rudimentary lungs and require unobstructed access to the water surface.
