The Light Fish blog covers fish, invertebrate, coral and plant care, aquarium equipment, and buying and selling in the hobby. Here’s how its articles are written and kept accurate.
Who writes the articles
Articles are written and edited by Miles Harrison, the founder of Light Fish, who has kept freshwater and saltwater aquariums for more than 10 years. Each article shows its author and the date it was published.
How we check them
- Care details, such as water parameters, tank sizes and compatibility, come from hands-on experience and established species references, and are checked before an article is published.
- We revisit articles when information changes, and correct mistakes as soon as we know about them.
Fact checking
Some coral and saltwater articles were reviewed by Kevin Su of Queen City Corals before they were published. Those articles carry a “Fact checked by” note near the top. Other articles have not had a separate outside review.
Light Fish in our buying guides
Light Fish is a marketplace, and our buying guides, such as where to buy a particular fish or plant online, include Light Fish and list it first. Other stores are included because of their reputation and selection.
Affiliate links
Some articles link to products on other sites through affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Articles with affiliate links say so.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong or out of date, email support@light.fish and we’ll look into it.
