Cherry Shrimp for Sale
Cherry shrimp (Neocaridina davidi var. red) are the most popular freshwater dwarf shrimp in the hobby — beginner-friendly, prolifically breeding, and available in a clear color grading scale that lets buyers pick exactly the intensity they want. On Light Fish you'll find cherry shrimp listed by U.S. Neocaridina breeders in three main grades: Painted Fire Red (deepest, most opaque red across body and legs), Fire Red (saturated red with minor translucency), and Sakura (cherry red with some clear patches). Higher grades command higher prices but breed true more reliably — most lower-grade colonies will throw a percentage of less-pigmented offspring even when the parents are visibly red.
Cherry shrimp are an ideal first shrimp species. They're peaceful, non-aggressive, and thrive in stable, well-cycled tanks at 68–78°F with a pH of 7.0–7.6. A colony of 10–15 shrimp in a planted 10-gallon tank will breed steadily without intervention, making them rewarding for hobbyists who want to grow their own line — or eventually sell offspring back into the marketplace.
Every cherry shrimp order on Light Fish is backed by the platform's Live Arrival Guarantee. Shrimp are packed in breather bags with heat or cold packs as needed, shipped in styrofoam-lined insulated boxes via priority or overnight carrier, and weather-monitored along the route. Acclimate new arrivals slowly using the drip method, and avoid copper-based medications, which are lethal to all freshwater shrimp.
