Description: Malaysian trumpet snails (MTS) are a great addition to any community tank or shrimp tank. Not only are they great at tackling algae and leftover food bits, but they are especially great in shrimp tanks to prevent a "recycle" where the beneficial bacteria die from too low of a bio-load. With an appearance similar to that of a rabbit snail and a size similar to bladder snails (>1/2"), these also make the tank more interesting and can serve as a food source for assassin snails or pea puffers. These snails also like to dig and burrow in the substrate which helps to aerate the soil and prevent stagnation. MTS do reproduce rather quickly given the right conditions, namely overfeeding, and can therefore overwhelm a tank if not watched carefully.
