Large Cholla Wood (16x1")

What you see is what you get with this natural cholla wood. Each order contains an assorted piece from those shown. The pieces are approximately 16" x 1" (3.5" circumference), and each piece is cleaned and sun-dried. Cholla wood is a natural wood found after a cholla cactus dies and dries out. This wood is native to New Mexico and many other parts of the southwest US and northern Mexico. This wood makes a great addition to your tank as it not only provides excellent hiding spots for your shrimp/fish fry due to the wood being hollow, but it also releases valuable tannins into the water and grows biofilms for shrimp and other creatures to enjoy. There is also a lot of surface area on the wood to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria to keep the tank free of harmful chemicals. This is a soft wood and will eventually break down in the water, depending on the size of the piece, in anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years.
