Ricefish
Ricefish for Sale
Ricefish (genus Oryzias) are small, peaceful freshwater fish native to Asia gaining popularity in the aquarium hobby for their hardiness, interesting breeding behavior, and growing variety of cultivated strains. On Light Fish you'll find ricefish listed by hobbyists and breeders, including Japanese medaka in standard, hi-body, and rare color forms — white, gold, black, blue, and various patterned varieties. Ricefish are unique in that females carry fertilized eggs attached to their bodies before depositing them on plants.
All ricefish orders on Light Fish are backed by a platform-wide Live Arrival Guarantee. Fish are packed in breather bags with temperature-appropriate packs, shipped in insulated boxes via priority or overnight carrier, and weather-monitored in transit. Ricefish are adaptable and tolerate a wide range of temperatures (60–82°F) and water parameters, making them suitable for both indoor aquariums and outdoor tub ponds. They thrive in well-planted setups and breed readily in appropriate conditions.
